As buying a (fancy) necktie is not for everybody a regular event, it might be useful to define a few things. As silk designer ties come in all quality and pretty much one shape, let's make some straight forward definitions.
Step 1: Rough Price Point Of The Necktie
If you are planning to spend less than $50 on a necktie, it is not not going to be suburb quality. A descent quality tie cost currently roughly $100-$300 in US department and speciality stores.
Tiedeals offers some $150+ ties with 65% - 75% off discounts which are available < $50!
Italy has been the larger manufacturer of quality designer ties for decades, most ties are made by hand. Many famous designer brands trust the handful silk factories to produce their brand name ties. France produces some lovely bespoke brands like Hermes and Charvet, and in England we find consistent quality from Turnbull and Asser. Almost all neckwear made on the other side of the world is often not at the same quality level, with few exception like the Robert Talbott unlined sevenfold tie in California, USA.
Most popular brands, which have as a part of their men collection a neckwear collection, often have a pretty similar high quality neckties (as just a few factories produce for 20+ brands like Valentino, Givenchy etc.).
